The region has all the ingredients to prosper - an established enterprise zone and investment plans in place, will help the region build on a strong manufacturing sector that makes up 14% of the local economy. Our strong services sector with less exposure to the uncertainties of Brexit will continue to boost the region. As we look ahead the £778m Government investment to stage the 2022 Commonwealth Games and realising the benefits of HS2 is positive news for businesses in the region. It’s an exciting time for the region and I’m delighted to be joining a funder who is committed to providing funding support to help the region businesses capitalize on these positives.”
